Post Office

"Before my time, but apparently the post office used to hire the school for their Christmas Party. I always thought it would be good to go to one of those parties!"

First Location

"The school started life on the other side of the road where the new houses are now. It was a lovely building, and lot's of the locals were sad when it shut down. It was a girls school on that site by the end, and the primay had moved to where it is now."

Name Change

"The school was called Bonner Hill infants and junior school when it first opened. It merged later. I can't remember exactly when it changed its name to Athelstan, but I think it was the early 60s"

Communities

"There was a large Italian community in that part of Kingston, and alot of them went to the school. The community might still be there. I remember the amazing ice-cream! One of the teachers was called Mrs Godfrey. She was possibly the head."
