STORY STORKS ARE LOOKING FOR A…


SPONSORSHIP AND MERCHANDISING MANAGER (PROJECT)

 

WHO ARE WE?

STORY STORKS is a social enterprise based in Kingston Upon Thames established in 2011.  We are on a mission to help and inspire every Early Years child to become a reader for pleasure.  We do this by delivering interactive story workshops to pre-school children in the area using a tried and tested formula.  Parents bring their children to our workshops which are layered with early years language development presented in a madcap fashion that has kids falling in love with stories.  The kids who come through Story Storks have great reading results when they go to school and all are motivated to try.  If they’re motivated, they are 90% of the way there!

We offer sponsored places to children who are at risk of not being able to read and work in conjunction with local charities to extend our reach.  We also go into nurseries and schools, again offering sponsored places to those at risk of not becoming literate.

And we want to do more.


The dream is that every child in this country goes to school and reads. 

 

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

This year we are delivering our second Theatre Show using our interactive formula.  Last year it was a runaway success.  This year will be even bigger and better.  For a start, we’re in a real theatre!

The show, THE THREE LITTLE CHRISTMAS PIGS, is running from the 5th to the 9th December in Kingston and we’re looking for somebody to help us out with raising funds for the show through sponsorship, advertisers and merchandising.  We’ve been turned down for Arts Council funding and we still want to put on an amazing show.  Even shoe strings cost money!

 

WHAT DO WE NEED?

We need somebody to…

  • Approach local businesses and ask for sponsorship.
  • Sell advertising to local businesses for our program
  • Come up with ideas for merchandise items and then, with the help of a team of Kingston College students, sell it to theatre goers.   

WHAT WILL YOU GET IN RETURN?

We’re not offering an upfront fee for this work.  We are however offering 40% of all profit from advertising, sponsorship and sales of the merchandising that you source and sell.  The more you raise, the more you’re paid!

And, of course, if you have kids we’ll get you some free tickets to the show.


WHAT EXPERIENCE DO I NEED?

If you’ve done this kind of thing before then that’s fab.  However, if you haven’t but you think you’ve got something to give we still want to hear from you.  A sales background would be useful, but we will consider anybody who thinks they can bring something to the project.  You need to be based close to Kingston and a good knowledge of the local area is essential. 

If you’ve had kids, given up your career for now but would like to do something with your big beautiful brain then apply.  This will fit around kids.  It’s a role that you can make your own.
